Theme: Qu’est-ce que je vais offrir comme cadeaux de Noël cette année? This one-week French reading comprehension program is suitable for upper-beginner to intermediate level primary or secondary levels. This program will have your students reading every day of the week, and is perfect for core or French immersion. These reading activities are specifically meant to be used along with my my Christmas themed vocabulary and writing programs which use a lot of the same words. The reading activities in this program include five separate reading comprehension activities for Monday through Friday. These reading worksheets are a great way to practice new themed vocabulary, see sight words in action, and to improve overall comprehension. Each worksheet includes a paragraph that should be read three times, once for each of the three questions that follow. Students check off the circled numbers each time they read the text and then they answer the corresponding questions. If you choose to purchase my bundled Christmas vocabulary, reading, and writing program #2, you’ll find these reading activities helpful after completing the writing curriculum as your students will already be very familiar with the vocabulary that is used.

French present subjunctive battleship games

(1)
French present subjunctive battleship games Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to practice forming the PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE. This resource includes 45 verbs. There are regular verbs and irregular verbs to practice with. 5 different versions of the game are included. *There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. I encourage you to allow your students to use a resource that you choose for them to check your answers. If you’re not sure what to use I can highly recommend verb2verb.com. This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies and instructions on how to play. All battleship games are also sold separately for $3.50 each. Check out my collection of BATAILLE NAVALE games! Just print out one page of the version you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Subject pronouns preceded by QUE are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the present subjunctive using either être or avoir as helping verb. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. French Poetry Lesson: Déjeuner du Matin, Jacques Prévert

(0)
Looking for a great activity for intermediate level learners of French? This is a lesson that covers reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It’s a fun way to introduce your students to French poetry, and though the poem is spectacularly well known in France, it’s easy to understand. Students will learn new vocabulary, and practice the passé composé. Included in this lesson: Watch a 3 minute silent short film with your students (YouTube link provided). The court-métrage is a very well done acting out of the poem. Students write what they think the poem is about after having watched the short movie, and they identify the feelings they felt. At this point you can encourage students to share with the class. Before reading the poem there is some new vocabulary to learn. Important vocabulary from the poem is introduced in a multiple choice activity, and after that I’ve included a flashcard set on Quizlet for you to share with your students so that they can revise (link provided). At this point, there’s a link to another YouTube video to show your students. Again, the poem is being acted out, but this time with the poem being read at the same time. Students will have a much better understanding of what the poem is about at this point. The next part of the lesson is to practice the passé composé, since that’s the tense that’s used throughout the poem. Students will fill in the blanks with the passé composé form of the verb in parentheses. Regular, irregular, and reflexive verbs. After you’ve gone over the answers with your students, there’s a reading exercise that could be done either in the classroom with a partner, or even better, in the language lab where students could record themselves reading the poem aloud. At this point, you could offer bonus points for students who want to memorize and recite the poem.

English months, days, and seasons game - I have...Who has?

(0)
✮ English months, days, and seasons game - I have…Who has? ✮ This version includes 27 cards. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again. This is a great resource for ESL or any classroom where English is spoken. Here’s how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says I’ll start the game begins the game. He says, for example, I’ll start the game. I have May. Who has Autumn? The person who has the card with autumn on it says, I have autumn. Who has Thursday? And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student’s card will say, The game is over! Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. It’s a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.
